Job Details
We at Harris Hill are working alongside a UK based charity who support & promote medical research to find a Finance Director. This charitable trust was set up to promote and improve both human and animal health.
The Role
The new Finance Director will lead the Finance & Membership team making sure the organisation's financial performance is optimised and they can fulfil their mission by delivering its financial strategic plan. The successful candidate will also take responsibility for Corporate Services.
The Finance & Membership team is mainly responsible for providing financial advice and processing detailed financial data. This is a multi-faceted role which manages a wide range of activities that are vital to the continuing success of the organisation.
Purpose of the role is to:
- oversee the organisations accounting functions
- provide leadership to the team by supporting the organisation when making key decisions
- manage staff and contractors
Responsibilities will be to:
- manage the organisations financial processes
- oversee budgeting & planning
- supervise the Finance Officer
- ensure the delivery of the financials including monthly management accounts, cash-flow forecast & annual accounts
- maintain the organisations financial practices & policies
- develop the organisations strategy, providing financial modelling which supports sound decision-making
- liaise with the Investment Managers to maintain the intelligent management of reserves
- manage and maintain relationships with the organisation's IT and office suppliers
- regularly review the Risk Register
- supervise the Membership Manager
- oversee the organisation's GDPR
Person specification
Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (with at least two years of post-qualification experience within a UK charity/not-for-profit)
Experience
- Substantial experience of financial and corporate services management in the not-for-profit sector
- Experience of Investment Management
- Demonstrable experience of business planning, risk management and budget building
- Prior experience of managing relationships with IT and external suppliers
- Knowledge of GDPR and compliance issues
Skills and attributes
- Strong leadership skills with experience developing and growing an effective team
- An excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills
- A strong ability and experience in forward planning
